About Me

Why I am running

  • I am a typical working American. It is probably obvious, but I have no prior political experience or support. My wife and I both graduated from UVa-Wise, and have lived in Kingsport, TN since then. We have two wonderful daughters. We enjoy being outdoors, on the water, and spending time together.

  • My family is the reason I decided to start this campaign. I want them to know that even in the face of adversity, it is always important to do the right and honorable thing. I will be honest, I will be honorable, and I will conduct myself with the highest integrity. That is a high bar for anyone, especially a politician, but it is the truth. I want to help fix this mess our government has caused, preserve our way of life, and go back to my family. I am not looking for a career, in fact, I want to put end the role of career politician.

  • I am an avid student of history. We must use history to learn from the past and have confidence in our future. It has been so disappointing for me to see our country go from being led by great statesmen to petty politicians. Dissenters and mobsters have replaced patriots and idealists. I am hoping that voters will learn to see beyond an R, D, or I around a candidate, and vote based on the merits of one's policies. I hope that we see these petty politicians replaced by more patriots that only want to see Americans succeed and prosper. I will be detailing my policies and I hope that it is enough to earn your vote. I know that most of us share the same mountain values that I was raised with, and I hope that everyone will be willing to see that I am conservative where it counts. Together, we can bring these ideals to our Federal government.

  • We live in the greatest social experiment in the history of the world. Representative government by and for the people had never worked until it was tried here. I am afraid that our system has been corrupted by those that would undermine our country for a quick profit. However, in the face of a great challenge, I have always argued that one person can make a difference. I am now putting that notion to the test. Help me open our government back to the people and end this cycle of partisanship that is tearing up apart.

  • The bottom line is that I am not rich, I am not famous, and I am not a skilled politician. I only have a willingness to listen, to learn, and to work. I support our Constitution 100%, and I will protect it from those that would ignore it entirely or sell it to the highest bidder. I know this will be difficult, but we are all in this together. I will do my part to make sure the extremists and the radicals do not destroy this country. The only choice we have is to succeed.

  • I refuse to change who I am for this campaign. I owe that to my family, my friends, and myself. I will always tell the truth and give the facts as they are, even if it hurts my cause. The people of this country deserve representatives that truly represent their interests.

Why I can win

  • We all can and should be doing better. We vote for representatives to make decisions in the best interests of the people, but the majority of Congress has failed to follow that basic mandate. This includes our current leadership for this area, and all across the country. I have provided a list of reasons why I would best represent this area, and I must include a few reasons why our current representative should be replaced.

  • Perhaps the best reason to not vote for the incumbent is what she hasn't done. Diana Harshbarger hasn't made any effort to stop abortions from happening. In fact, the last 4 years of the Trump administration show the first increase in the number of abortions in a generation. Why would a party with the stated goal of stopping abortions allow that? The only reason is that if they had taken action, you would have no reason to vote for them. It is the same reason they have taken no action on protecting gun rights, or balancing the budget. I promise to reduce the number of abortions, start correcting the budget, and protect our rights. We will make a difference. The first step is voting for someone that wants to help, not someone there for the money. Speaking of that...

  • Do you feel like the swamp has been drained yet? When I see a Representative working on a salary of $175k per year, I am astonished to see stock gains of over $10M after a year in Congress. While insider trading is not illegal for members of Congress, it should be. Monetary gain is the highest form of corruption, and our Representative has shown that she is more than capable of using her position to do just that. To start rooting out corruption, we should start right here in East Tennessee.

  • She has expressed a desire to expand the number of lifetime appointments to the Supreme Court. I feel like a better course of action would be to eliminate lifetime appointments and allow every President to appoint 2 Justices to the Court per a ~20 year term. The meaning of a lifetime has increased from 60 years old when the Republic was founded, to almost 90 for these high level government positions now, and I see no reason why the Supreme Court should not reflect this change. This would ensure that no one party could pack the Court or taint its bipartisanship.
